A bit relieved, Nalan enacts quatrain recited in Kalyaani Ragam
With the blessing of God Indran, leading a peaceful life, that Nalan fell into a state of extremen happiness. Philosophically, he compared the forest with a house and vice versa
Nalan enacts padam set to Kalyaani Ragam and chempata cycle of 8 beats
· In fact, this horrific forest is a seven-storied palace (alternatively, it is the seven worlds combined together), and this place where I am now, is a city.
· Females and associated lustful acts, strategies, victories, fear and expenses are all meant for those who rule the land
· (Here) there are dangerous caves inhabited by cruel beasts, which is horrifying. (However), they speak out what they really think in mind. Talking of the cravings and yearnings, the big-bodied (meaning, humans) are the real foes
· The ever-so-glowing palaces and virtous royal courts are contained in this wonderful forest. And, this flowing rocky river is like mother. These trees are kings. Certainly, these natural gifts are mind blowing
· My sorrow has been distanced; sins have been washed away, wrongdoings have been pardoned, now because of the extreme grace of fate!! By the passage of time, (I feel) my grief stricken times have to come to an end
(After the padam has been enacted, he begins wandering and seeing various parts of the forest. By and large, in a joyous mood, he conveys these scene – should ideally speak about the wealth of the forest. May also show an animal escaping from a kind of danger by the act of god. Here he may enact a particular scene wherein, a female pregnant deer, under imminent attack from a tiger, floods, a hunter, wildfire, lightening, and thunder showers, somehow is saved and she delivers peacefully.
These enactments are part of “Forest Description” act or “Vanavarnanam”. At the end of this, he exits hearing a scream specifically uttering his name!!
