O Bhargava, son of Bhruga

English
O Bhargava, son of Bhruga, protector of the weak
please grant me happiness, O famous one

Please don’t be angry at my young sons
bless them please, O great sage

I am your slave, my sage, and please
don’t be angry at my sons

O great sage, I am weak and please desist
from any attempt to kill my son

Who goes there? Sreerama you fool?

English
Sloka:
Thus when the aged Dasaratha was going with his sons and their wives, an angry Parasurama arrived there. He stopped Sreerama and Dasaratha and angrily told them that “whoever broke Siva’s bow will not pass unchallenged”.

Who goes there? Sreerama you fool?
if you are brave enough defeat me and go.

Don’t be too proud in your mind because
you have broken the mighty Siva’s bow

O Son of Kusika, with your blessings

English
O Son of Kusika, with your blessings
I am going to break Siva’s bow

I bow at the lotus feet of the Lord of the three
worlds and the king of gods
to remove any obstacles in my path;
I consider this a great fortune.

My mother, O Goddess, have mercy on me
O lotus-eyed and with neck like a conch
I am going to break the Thraiyambakam
