Narada

English

Your power scares the enemy armies

English
Your power scares the enemy armies from coming near,
Oh! Nala, you are so rich in grace and valour,
You are the lord of the earth,
Yet you lay your youth to waste.

Not for long do I stay anywhere,
I keep travelling everywhere,
I am known for making conflicts between one and the other,
in this world, in that and in the nether.

Have you not heard of Damayanti,
the Vidarbha princess of unsurpassed beauty?

Please see, O King of demons

English
Please see, O King of demons,
O Ravana, this is Bali.

The long and thick tail, the hands,
feet and face may instil fear

But don’t pay heed to that
it may run away if it sees us

There is a way, sneak from the rear,
catch with your hand, watch its misery

Go ahead slowly and stealthily

Ravana, hear me now

English
Ravana, hear me now; O feared
king, listen to my words

My words don’t depend on your moods
only the truth I am going to tell you

The story of Indra’s capture
by your son, and
helpless gods taking flight —
who doesn’t know all that!

At the mere mention of Ravana’s name
all the gods are left trembling;

Glory to you Ravana, King of Lanka

English
Sloka:

Sage Narada, after appraising Bali of his plan, arrives at Ravana’s court with a big smile and starts praising him.

Glory to you Ravana, King of Lanka
glory to you the king of demons
glory to you the son of Kaikasi
glory to you the son of Poulasthya.

Glory to you the brother of Kumbhakarna
glory to you the brother of Soorpanakha
