Mandodari

English

O gallant, blessed by the Goddess

English

O gallant, blessed by the Goddess of Wealth

O handsome, as good-looking as Kamadeva

Your words about bringing the pretty Sita

here is not at all appropriate

If you are strong, call Rama to war

and kill him with your arrows

Without that if you bring Sita here

it will be the end of this dynasty

Which of your lotus-like faces

English
Which of your lotus-like faces
is the most beautiful I am confused
hence the delay in kissing your fruit-like lips;
it’s not because I am disinclined.

After enacting the above padam, both Ravana and Mandodari are seated in a passionate embrace.  Ravana, then enacts the approach of Rishi Narada as follows:

O Ravana, please listen to me

English
O Ravana, please listen to me, virtuous king
O Cupid-like husband, hearing your words.

My mind fills with growing happiness
Scared of your great prowess
all celestial damsels, including Urvasi,
shed their pride and shyness on seeing me
and sincerely prostrate before me.
