As Dasaratha spoke thus and prostrated in front of Parasurama, the sage kicked him away and seething with anger spoke to the blue-hued Sreerama.

O Bhargava, son of Bhruga, protector of the weak

please grant me happiness, O famous one

 

Please don’t be angry at my young sons

bless them please, O great sage

 

I am your slave, my sage, and please

don’t be angry at my sons

 

O great sage, I am weak and please desist

from any attempt to kill my son

 

Either Dasaratha’s son Rama or Bhargava Rama —

only one of the two can now remain on earth

 

To wage a war for no reason

who will now wish, O gracious sage?

 

 

Stop giving me such replies and

engage me in battle without delay

 

From where I came I would like to return,

please give me passage for that

 

You frivolous prince, passage to where

are you asking, tell me

 

 

O Bhargava, the crown among sages,

please give me passage to leave.

Thus when the aged Dasaratha was going with his sons and their wives, an angry Parasurama arrived there. He stopped Sreerama and Dasaratha and angrily told them that “whoever broke Siva’s bow will not pass unchallenged”.

What shall I do now, things don’t look okay

will I be able to capture it as I imagined?

 

Why should I get depressed with such unconnected
thoughts, it’s better to beat a retreat.

 

Shame! Shame! Will Ravana evert retreat
I am going to tie it up, no two ways about it.
